My first great success in Scientology began early on when I started to read some of L. Ron Hubbard’s books. I found them to be well thought out from a scientific standpoint and also very direct. Ever since reading the first book I ever read, which was Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, I have been intrigued by anything he had to say. I have read many books and listened to many lectures and feel I have such an excellent understanding of the human mind and the game we call life, that I feel there is almost nothing that I don’t know.

     Before I became a Scientologist my life was pretty frantic and there were many hardships I had to endure. I was having a pretty rough time in school. This was even though I was doing quite well academically and physically and having various wins. There was however a great void in my life which was never filled. I was encountering various problems in my life that I never quite understood. These problems were in the field of human relations and life itself. It felt to me like all the really important lessons in life that had to be learned by each and every individual were never covered in my education. I never understood why my mother was having so much difficulties with my neighbor, or why there was no solution for an atomic holocaust, or what to do when you’re forced to confront a criminal and how to handle him. Why were there so many wars going on around the world right now, what is the meaning of life and even questions like why doesn’t that person like me when I never even met him before. All these questions were unanswered and I figured I would have to suffer though life just like everybody else without anyone to answer them for me.

     What to me was so amazing about reading these books, was not just how they very simply and easily explained why they were occurring, (in a very scientific and comprehensive manner) but also gave me the technology of how to effectively handle them. I found out the true cause of these upsets and by doing so soon discovered they were no longer hanging up in my mind. Finally I was free to do what always wanted to do which was play the game of life.

     This sense of understanding is just one of the many wins I have had in Scientology. To list them all we would probably require some kind of catalogue. But I’ll give you some of them here.

     I find that a person is as alive as he can dream. In other words a person who can visualize what he wants to do with his life and feels he can accomplish these goals will have have a confidence which will guide through any troubles life may dish out for him and he will also be very enthusiastic about things. Well from the help I have gotten from Scientology I now feel that I can do anything I want to do with life. No matter what it is I know I can be successfully. I could become an excellent painter if that was what interested me or even be a pilot. Since I am only 21 years of age and have most of my life ahead of me, I always feel very calm that things will work out. That is just one gain I have had.

     Another win, which is probably the most important of all, is that for the first time in my life I feel that this planet has a chance to survive in the future. Whenever you see a movie depicting the future of Earth what do see? Well war is rampant, people are murdering each other in the streets, there are riots, people have no sense of respect for one another, nuclear war, and what not. You may think that maybe the writer or director of the movie is doing that for effect or just to be interesting, but that’s not the case. Have you ever read what some of the scientists or economists are saying? It’s pretty radical and pretty scary stuff. And it’s something which may very well become a reality if there is no change in the current society. You probably may not be that worried about it right now but I can tell you one thing - you’re children are going to be in it. I really don’t mean to scare you but sometimes reality is not always what you want it to be. Well if you are afraid then you are probably going to enjoy my next gain I had in Scientology. That is that I have no doubt what so ever in my mind that if the planet starts using some of the simple principles in Scientology, it not only will see it’s way through any problems it might find facing it but will also be a very very prosperous joyous society. No doubt about it. In fact I could sum up for you the exact source of most of the worlds problems for you right now by using only one word. I won’t tell you what that word is, I will leave that up to you to discover when you read from one of the many works of L. Ron Hubbard yourself.

     I don’t want to continue writing wins and gains for you forever because I have a lot of other interesting things to tell you but I will give you one final win I had. That is all the positive and winning people I have met and befriended in being a Scientologist. If you would talk to some Scientologists right now and ask them about their lives and how they are all doing you would find a single very obvious and very noteworthy common denominator: they are all very successful. I found many of them to be very helpful and inspiring people. I finally found a group of people I could really relate to and didn’t feel like a major outcast like I had so many times before. I felt I belonged.
